Hello

Hi,
I've just joined up as I put a deposit down on an XR this weekend, and pick it up in two weeks. Cannot wait. I currently ride a GS. I've been lurking on this forum for a while, and have a few questions and will see if I can find relevant posts.
Cheers

Welcome, lots of folks came to the XR from a GS you're in for a thrill that's for sure just needs a bit of fine tuning to make it your own like all bikes.

After 10+ years riding GS's (1 x GS & 2 x GSA) this thing was a bit of an eye opener but I'm loving' it

I've gone for the Sport SE 2016 model. The dealer kindly fitted the 2017 vibration dampers. Picked it up yesterday. Took it on a 2.5 hour long trip home yesterday, it was great. The new mountings made a difference, didn't notice anything. The only negative is the heated grips are shite. The seat is also a bit similar to the stock GS seat, so reckon I need to change that but to what I do not know.

Not sure where you are but if South try this guy.
http://www.sussexmotorcycles.com
Click on Elite Comfort seats
He filled mine with memory foam and sculpted it to shape £70.00 took about an hour n half and it's brilliant. Several other S1XR owners have done the same and are all happy.
Word of warning it does add a good inch or more to the height and his workshop can be a bit of a shock but the job is fine.
Regularly do 8 or 10 hour days on mine.
Best option I've come across so far especially as replacement seats are so ridiculously expensive and most times no better than the original and very often worse.
