I wanted an S1000RR - missus said 'no'
« on: March 30, 2017, 08:31:12 PM »
Hi All,

Just bought the S1000XR as a 'family bike' if there is such a thing - it was a bit of a false start as my card wouldn't go through initially.  The bike is so far so good. I'm not going to talk about vibrations - this one has them, the demo did not. Still amused at the cost of the plastic bags, I mean panniers. Even more hilarious is the lack of instructions for the NAV V.

Don't spare the whip in the first few hundred miles, you'll feel the vibes slowly go away. After 5,000 km mine is butter smooth.

Congrats!  You might wanna try those HVMP bar ends.  A lot of guys swear by those.
Raptor exhaust / HP sport seat / BM crash bars / Nav VI / Dunlop Q3+'s / Puig screen / Synto levers / TPX radar detector / D.I.D gold X chain / HVMP bar ends / RRG cooler guards / Wunderlich f&r fender extenders & big brake lever / Hepco and Becker stand enlarger / R&G f&r axle sliders / rim tape

Vibrations started 0.5 miles from the dealership when I picked it up and stopped 0.5 miles from the dealership! Odd, but good!

I've not noticed any vibes at all on my 2017 model. Got 1000 miles on it now.

Glad that mine were short lived and that you don't have any. Need to research bluetooth for the NAV V - any suggestions welcomed.
Cosmetically I will add a couple of carbon highlights and that will be about it.

My new 2017 only has a very minor vibe @4500rpm-ish....below and above that it's butter smooth...but she's only done ~500km thus far and not even had it's 1000km first service yet....it's not really bad enough to blur the mirrors or make me cry... but it's there nonetheless, I'm hoping it'll be better after she's done a few more kms.

It's a very minor issue on an otherwise great motorcycle....not a deal breaker for me.
