ECU FUEL REMAP
« on: May 11, 2017, 01:55:17 PM »
Has anyone had their ECU remapped to improve the refuelling?

Was thinking about getting my XR remapped to improve engine performance at low speed in traffic - as you know the fuel is currently programmed to run very lean which can result in lumpy running and overheating in traffic.  :305:

2015 bike ( i was early adopter)

Geoff at Hilltop motorcycles did it ( this is the third bike he has done for me)

there are many many threads on UKGSer about it and some dismiss it as witch craft and snake oil but

the bike runs smoother for it and has more power mine is now 161 BHP at the wheel a substantial increase over the pre re map figure

It isnt all about HP though it is about the way the bike delivers its power which in this case is so much smoother

the bike is also more economical for it

Yesterday i did 240 mile in the Yorkshire dales with and average overall speed of 48MPH So not hanging about by any stretch of the imagination  the bike returned 51MPG

I didnt re map mine for the fuel economy but it is an added bonus !

Anyone have experience with the Booster plug?  Seems like it will accomplish the same thing.

Raptor exhaust / HP sport seat / BM crash bars / Nav VI / Dunlop Q3+'s / Puig screen / Synto levers / TPX radar detector / D.I.D gold X chain / HVMP bar ends / RRG cooler guards / Wunderlich f&r fender extenders & big brake lever / Hepco and Becker stand enlarger / R&G f&r axle sliders / rim tape

I have no experience of the booster plug but i think it will not be anywhere near as good as a custom map done by hilltop

for a start the hilltop map is a learning and adjusting map partitioned into the ecu that still uses all the bikes lamda sensors etc so can take into account atmospheric changes due to altitude etc

The guy from hilltop is on here as a memeber and i am sure can answer any questions far better than I as i can ride the wheels off a bike but have no clue as to how they really work !

I see that you are in the USA so the only option for you Vis a Vis Hilltop would be to send the ECU by post so probably a no goer

from memory it was 140 ash at the wheel

Now 161 at the wheel

BMW quote their figures at the crank and it is amazing how much gets lost between the BMW marketing mans mouth and the wheel

Any other engine/exhaust mods done or is it just an ecu flash?

Anyone in the NE US have a good reputation for a slightly richer tune on this ECU?
