GREMLINS!!!
« on: May 13, 2017, 03:34:55 PM »
Just had my XR for 6 months now from new, 750 miles and it has been great, until today. Warning light on dash starts flashing intermittently and D-ESA flashing up, then rev counter starts sticking at between 3 and 5000 revs and not working as it should. Contacted main dealer, but service not open until Monday. Any ideas?

My mates did exactly that, after a few visits to the dealers they eventually replaced the clocks and also been well.

My dash went haywire when the battery terminals were not tightened correctly after a service. Sorry if you've already checked them but thought I'd mention it.

Cheers Morse!! I went out to the garage to check the battery terminals, and sure enough the Positive side was loose!! Tightened it, and started her up. Rev counter seems fine now, i will take her for a run tomorrow and see if the warning light has stopped.
Many thanks again
Steve :002:

Cheers Morse,  :020: All fixed!!! Took it for a blast out around Derwent Reservoir, no warning lights, no flashing D-ESA and Rev counter working properly. Although, a bee hit me in the throat, got inside my jacket and stung me on the back of the shoulder.
But my bike is fixed!!! :062:

Excellent Steve, I know the nice roads around the Derwent Reservoir area quite well, living in the North East 30 years ago.

Shame about the bee attack though  :003:

Some cracking roads around here, across to Hartside and the Lakes, up to Kielder and the borders. Off up to the North West of Scotland in 3 1/2 - 4 weeks for the annual pilgrimage. Love it up there, Ullapool, Applecross Awesome!!
