Toto I don't think we're in Kansas anymore
« on: June 16, 2017, 02:24:28 PM »
New member from Kansas City.  Bought the bike a few weeks ago.  Only have about 350 miles on it as I share time on my KTM Superduke.  I'm impressed with the bike and will be taking it to the track (again) this Sunday.  The motor seems like it's a beast, but I know it's corked up until the first service.  Or at least, I believe it is.  My BMW dealer told me yesterday that the XR's are not limited from the factory. I told him I disagreed cuz I'm hitting the rev limiter in 6th at a buck 20 (I was on the race track).  Can anyone positively confirm/deny that the bike is RPM limited from the factory?

Anyway, thanks for the add!  Look forward to learning a lot from everyone.

Yes, the XR has a software factory set rev limit at 9,000 RPM that is removed during the first service by the dealer.

It can also be removed by purchasing the GS-911 device made by Hex Code and doing it yourself.
