Speedo cal changes with new Rosso 3's
« on: August 03, 2017, 10:21:15 AM »
Hello all

Had Rosso 3's fitted, and scrubbed them in today on my fav twisties.  Wow!  Fan-bloody-tastic tyre.

The turn in is so much quicker!

Anyway, thought you all would be interested to know that the speedo cal has changed very slightly.  The difference between displayed speed and actual GPS speed has decreased by about 1-2 km/hr.

The difference used to be a fairly uniform 4 km/hr.  It is now about 2 km/hr.

To be fair - any new tyre, will feel like that - compared to the old tyre you removed.......

What did you have on before?

Are the Pirellis  a sports or sports/touring tyre?

Bridgestones.  The Rosso 3 is a sport tyre.  I use my bike as an upright sport bike.

No, the turn in is even better than when the OEM tyres were new...

I had two sets of Rosso 3's on mine and really liked them, thought the rear only just lasts a touring holiday.

I am having some roadtec 01's fitted tomorrow, so hoping they will not feel too bad.

Perhaps initially the Roadtecs will not feel as quick-steering as the Rossos, but should maintain their profile for a lot longer?   That's the compromise I would go for.

When my T30's are finished I also opt for the Metzlers 01. I see only good reviews on the web.
Hope to read a nice report on this forum soon.  :001:

The T30's were OK I thought, not terrible but not brilliant either. They also didn't last that much longer than more sporty tyres.

Okay, the T30's are history and I have a pair of Rosso III now. Excellent!
Just did 1000km in the German Eiffel and they were SUPER! So sticky in both dry and wet.
And they felt so confident. Although the weather was not to warm the Rosso's were warm in an instance.
I know what will be the next set!  :001:
