Methinks it lives just on the rear axle, on the (LH) nut side. Has an "expanding" joint which locks inside the hollow axle and the other bigger bit screws on the outside, seems a strange way to do it though!!..?? Unless I'm mistaken.. :187:

Most of the others just use a single rod going right through the hollow axle with oggy type knobs attached/screwed to each end...

If you want to protect the threaded end of the axle just insert it from the other side next time you change tires. The muffler will protect it, and the left side is now flush. We don't need no steenkin' farkels.
