I'd like to see exactly what they would protect in a static drop, not that I'm planning to !

Personally not for me too bulky and obtrusive and not really in keeping with the style of the bike. If I was going to fit guards and I do keep contemplating it I think I'd go for the SW Motech crash bungs.
One they'll be superb quality and two more in keeping with the style of the bike. Just my opinion luckily we're all different. :002:
PS can be found on Ebay at reasonable prices

Just a few posts down, I started pretty much the same thread, and someone posted in there to watch Cubanrider's video of him crashing.  He has the BMW bars, and his bearings came out unscathed.

That video sold me completely on the crash bars.

Unfortunately, I crashed my XR before they could be imported to the dealer.  :172:

Likewise, wanted some crash bars, wasn’t sure which ones to go for then saw that video.

Insurance company informed me that if I had skidded on the muffler-side... the 'XR would have been totaled.  I was one muffler away from a completely new XR.  I am convinced that the crash bars would have massively reduced the re-build cost (and time out of saddle).  :151:

I no longer care how my XR appears to others.  Since I'm clearly an awful driver, I'd just as soon it can survive my worst days.  I feel the same way about my riding clothes.
