Self cancelling indicators
« on: October 31, 2017, 01:44:11 PM »
Mine were set at 20 seconds or 600 metres. Too long for my taste but I had to get the techs to change it to 10 seconds or 300 metres. Odd that it's not an option that's available in the rider's menu. Some of you won't want it on at all I guess. I haven't seen any other posts on this so just thought I'd mention it.

I've always self cancelled on my bikes.  Like you said, too long for my taste. I will be getting mine changed as well, in case I ever forget to cancel manually.

Well they can. Vernon, chief tech in Cotswold BMW went into the software and changed mine from non cancelling to 20 Seconds. When I said that was too long he changed it to 10.

I'm not 100% on this but I tried my indicators in the garage and was disappointed they didn't self cancel at all - then on a ride out they self cancelled after about 15 seconds. Only been out on the bike once and now I have parked the bike up for winter but can anyone else confirm this?

Not sure what it is you want confirming. The post pretty much explains this.

I dont see how the post explains anything like it!
What im saying is if my bike is not moving the indicators dont self cancel at all - not after 10, 20 or however many seconds....yet if its moving then they do self cancel....thats what I was asking if Im right or wrong!?

I was informed by the dealer that mine would cancel at 10 seconds, but I've never confirmed if it works at all.

Either I'm disciplined about canceling myself from years of habit, or they've self-canceled before I realized I had them blinking.

So, either the canceling system is working, or my brain-to-bike interface is working.

Regardless, I appreciate the knowledge that this is a dealer-adjustable setting.  :028:

Indicators only self-cancel when moving.  That way you don't have to keep resetting them if you're, for instance, waiting at traffic lights.
