Mods I'm pleased with
« on: November 09, 2017, 09:48:16 AM »
I've had the bike for 5 weeks now and love it more every time I ride it. I've attached photos of a few basic modifications/additions. I'm very happy with all of them. I find the larger brake pedal and gear lever to be a positive change for me personally. The sidestand foot extension inspires more confidence than the postage stamp sized original and matches well with the gear lever cover. Evotech bar end weights have cured the vibration I had in the left hand mirror at 70mph. The Radiator and oil cool covers will protect from errant stones and I like the appearance of it. One thing that I would mention is that the gap where the X is in the centre of the Rad cover is big enough for me to put my thumb through, which I mentioned to Beowulf, but any stone would have to hit the bullseye so one would have to be pretty unlucky for this to be an issue. I used the Tom Tom mount from my Harley to fit the Tom Tom Rider Satnav to the bike.
The MRA vario touring screen is superb. I prefer the look of it to the OEM, I think it really suits the bike and it's very effective. Tested it today in a variety of positions and for me, fully up with the spoiler fully up is where it works best. I'm 6ft tall 32in inside leg. A word of caution, speed is even more deceptive with this screen ! Finally, a poppy added to the screen, lest we forget.......

Interesting, over the same timescale:

Same screen - check - excellent
Same bar ends - check - no vibrations

I have also removed the frame for the panniers and replaced the carrier with the standard handles for a sleeker look. Oh! and stickers on the wheels and a SW-Motech tankbag...

I'm thinking of a tankbag by them too. Which model and do you have any photos of it on the bike ?

I've got a few, but the one I'm oddly most pleased with is the Shad panniers.

It's my own opinion but they look marginally...um... faster than the BMW ones.

My preference is for the micro...an ideal size for all your documents, etc, when touring and ideal for wallet, phone, keys, etc. when out for a bimble...

I have a SW-Motech GS tank bag for sale that fits the XR.

I am a bit of a fan, I have a Micro, Sport, City and a GS for various bikes I own. They are great well made bags.

Decided I don't really need the GS :-)

PM if interested steveharleyuk

Cheers
