Which helmet?
« on: January 22, 2018, 12:43:48 PM »
After 15 years with the same helmet  :005: its time to get a new one. :028:

My Arai Tour Cross really has been an epic lid, and has worked well with my many GS's over this period, but as my style of riding is about to change with the XR  :061: (it does that doesn't it) I need a new lid to go with it.

This is my short list, in no particular order:
Shoei GT-Air Helmet - Swayer
AGV K5 - Hero
Bell Star Helmet - Pace

Comments/feedback welcomed, if you are using any of these?

Open to other suggestions, only caveat is that they have to be available in red/black to match the bike !  :062:

I have GT air, nice I like it, light and wind noise low. Internal tinted visor good although in this weather can mist a little. Main visor fine with pin lock  :305:

Might want to find the MCN review on the Shoei GT seem to remember it was unwearable after 45 minutes.
Had 2 Shoei in the past and they've been ok ish but the 3rd a Neotech was a terrible helmet.
If you like Arai which you obviously do why not try another Arai.
Now using a Xlite its a super helmet except for the paint quality its been back to Italy once but the paint is flaking again.
Beginning to wonder if these so called premium helmets are really worth the money.

I’ve worn my gt air to Spain and back with some long 500 mile days with no issues at all, I am a medium size if that makes a difference.

I really like my new SHARK EVOLINE PRO CARBON (about $500.00), which has more features/ versatility than a Shoei Neotec or Schuberth C3 Pro.

Shark also makes a "non-carbon" version for about $300, which I used for 4 years and enjoyed. I would rate Shoei (I've had several before and loved them), and Schuberth to be a bit better quality, less noisy. HOWEVER, the Shark is no slouch and because of its features, comfort it's been one of my favorites all-time Helmets.

Thanks for all the options/opinions.
I'm going to go to "bike stop" local to me gear shop, that stock Bell, Shoei & Shark. Try them for fit before purchasing. Wind noise not really a problem for me as in deaf anyway - well, according to my other half!  :164:  :152:

never been keen on the idea of internal flip down visor, and is not something you will find in the arai line up i`ve often wandered why that is?
