    New member - Newbie question

    Hello everyone

New member, first post, be gentle! I have a 2016 S100XR Sport SE in Red. I have a question regarding the Navigator V unit that is a direct fitment.

My bike has the as delivered sat nav mount like the photo attached.

Now I've spent all night searching for this and can't find a solid answer, I'm growing increasingly frustrated. Can I mount the Nav V unit direct to this without anything else? I appreciate that it won't be lockable. Also, I assume the bar controls will work in this hardware configuration?

I see plenty of posts about the cradle and mounting plate and all sorts which Is greatly confusing. At this time I'm not interested in being able to lock it, I just want a working sat nav using the BMW controls. The two mounts i've seen pictures of are the last two pictures attached. Do I need any of the three at all? I can understand what the locking one does (no picture of that), but the one with the 4 buttons or the one that just seems to be a plastic surround???  :155:

Please help keep me sane!  :187:
    Thanks in advance

Hi mate, yes nav will fit straight on the standard cradle! It will work on the swivel! Enjoy!

Yes Ditto the last post, but it should come with a cover that clips onto the face of the mounting when not in use.

    Brilliant, Thanks.
I can just pick up a Nav V unit without the associated other bits then.

Yep, will slide in, a cover plate which covers the cradle connectors will be a good idea

Hello Jaguarsean and welcome to the forum.  My nav cradle does not have a cover.  My new nav 5 did not come with one.  I guess the cradle is supposed to come with it. I've been looking around for one. It would be good to have.

    Hi there,

If you are fitting a Nav 5 or 6 to a bike with bar-thumbwheel control - dont use the cradle with the 4 side buttons.(your 4th pic).  I have been told that having two sets of controls can confuse the Nav unit.

Just use the plain mount (pic 2) or locking mount (pic 3). You can just see the key barrel on the photo.

I understand that they have stopped making the rain-cover for these mounts but they occasionally turn up on e-bay.

Plug n play the nav v, waterproof too. Agree with others the basic aftermarket cradle will allow you to lock the nav to the bike by your ignition key.

I've modded  mine bt bringing it away from the bar mount to enable easy access with the key, on and off in minutes.

Get the updates on the nav soon as you get it, big file but loads more roads,  especially if you are looking at going abroad.
