Luggage
« on: February 15, 2018, 10:54:44 PM »
Hiya folks

I bought the full luggage with the XR and I was just wondering if there's any bigger luggage (Like the square cases) that fit straight onto the XR without having to change racks and fixings etc.

Cheers
David

I have searched also, but could not find a decent case with dthe original rak.
I have installed the Shad SH with the 3P rack.
The advantage of this system is, that the rack can be deinstalled in 5 minutes, so when i don't need it i just remove this rack

Me too on the SH36.  Love them.  They look great.

That said, the OP was looking for more space for storage on the OEM racks, and the SH36 are quite tiny.

I have not seen any baby coffins that bolt directly to the factory racks, personally.

Shad are undoubtably - good panniers with a clever mounting arrangement.

They are also sig cheaper than BMW OEM boxes.

An alternative for summer days might be the SW Motech semi-rigid panniers.

charleyr - What color is that on your XR (Flat Black, Flat Charcoal Grey - cant tell by the photo?) Anyway, it looks "great" and suits the XR excellent, also it could look O.E.M as well, which is also cool (IMO).

I can't tell what the colour code is, because it is a special version made by van harten motorcycles in amersfoort, the Netherlands.
It looks like black, with some silver in it.

IMO Van Harten motorcycles "has the best taste/ skill" of doing mod's and repainting on BMW's, which looks both custom, and O.E.M. which is hard to get right. As mentioned before, yours is one of the best looking I've seen. Also, I've seen that Van Harten has done a couple of other XR's as well, one in Metalic Blue, the other in a Flat Silver and grey. Over the years, on previous R's I've owned, I've used Van Harten designs to change the looks.
