Instrument Panel Clock issue
« on: March 17, 2018, 09:29:54 PM »
I'm 400 miles into the ownership of my new 2018 XR. Terrific bike.

Have a couple of questions:

1. When setting the instrument display clock, I am able to set it, but if I turn the ignition off for say 5-10 minutes, the time I set has been reset to 0:00. If I set the time, turn the ignition off just for a few seconds, then back on, the time stays. If I keep the ignition on after I have set the time, the time simply don't change.
I have the GPS time option in setup to off.

2. The GPS I am using is a Navigator 5. If I set the instrument display time option GPS time to On, the time still stays at 0:00. No change at all. So the bike does not take the time from the GPS even with the "GPS Time" option to ON.

I am missing something?

Same answer as in the other venue, its broken and a warranty issue.

I realize that, Marc. Just wanted to hear from others if they have had this issue. Used the GS911 this morning to set the Instrument cluster date/time. Still won't hold the time. I guess I'll be headed to the dealer next week.

I'm only 150 mls into ownership and I thought it was quite simply that I had forgot to set my clock. As a result of this post I have checked mine and guess what?, Yes mine's buggered as well!  Thanks for the heads up and off to Coppers I go

I'm calling the dealer on Tuesday. They're closed Monday. It also looks like some of the information from the bike up to the Navigator 5 is missing (outside temp and other parameters)

Let me know what your dealer finds.

The XR doesn't know ambient temp per se. You can use inlet temp which is very close as long as you're moving. Its accessed via the Info button. Anyway, nothing to send to the Nav.

Is it supposed to send fuel consumption?

Yes, there is a NAV screen that shows all kinds of info and you can option what you want to see by pressing the box and holding it.

Same issues with the clock on my new bike that I collected today.  You can set it, but it doesn’t advance (i.e stays at the same time) and when the ignition has been off for a few minutes it resets to zeros anyway.

Headed to the dealer on Saturday. I suspect he’ll say “Have to replace the whole cluster. We don’t have it. It’ll be two weeks. “
