Alarm issues........
« on: April 11, 2018, 09:08:03 PM »
Hi all - alarm issues........

The last couple of days the XR has been sat under a cover with the BMW alarm on, as it has done for months with no issues.
There has been no wind, no heavy rain no reason for the alarm to go off. But it has a number of times over the last few days which is rather annoying to say the least.

Tonight again it has just gone off so have turned it off via the setup menu and will call barnstormer tomorrow.

Anyone any ideas or similar problems???

I hope its a simple failure of some sort that can be fixed... Just make sure to keep an eye out that no one is setting it off on purpose in hopes of having you disable it...

Cheers;
Eric

Battery on it's last legs maybe..?? I believe the DWA alarm has it's own battery if the bike's main battery is low or disconnected.

Do the turn signals flash while the alarm is going off..??

This from the owners manual..:

"A DWA alarm can be triggered by:

Motion sensor or an attempt to use an unauthorised vehicle key to switch on the ignition.

Disconnection of the DWA antitheft alarm from the motorcycle's battery (DWA internal battery in the anti-theft alarm provides power - alarm tone
only, the turn indicators do not flash)."

Smithy.

Alarm will definitely go off if insufficient power from main battery unless you turn it off

Immobiliser and Datatag fitted.as standard, Suits me as Ive always found alarms to be a pain in the derriere. And the high cost of an alarm from BM to expensive.

Yep fully charged up now! Should be ok, the bike cane with the alarm, if I had the option I wouldn’t bother nowadays
