Problems finding 1st sometimes.
« on: April 16, 2018, 06:02:43 PM »
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue....

Was out last week on my first decent ride of the spring, and on 3 occasions I had difficulty getting the bike from 2nd into 1st when stationary. There was no indication on the display of gear either, it just went blank.

I will get the dealer to look at it next time it’s in, but it’s one of those occasional things that may not happen when they test ride it.

that's happened with other bmw's I've owned and occasionally the xr.  I blip the throttle and hit the shifter without pulling in the clutch lever which sort of resets it somehow.
I think its a bmw quirk.

Or just slip the clutch a bit as you engage it to move the dogs around so they engage.

That said mine goes into first without needing to do this, so might be worth talking to the dealer.

Finding neutral on the V4 Aprilia's is another matter :-)

It will never be easy finding neutral with the gearset stationary, but it does get easier as the miles pile on. Or the rider's skill improves, not sure which.

:001:  Now I would admit to losing the odd tool now and then. But I would never Admit to losing my first gear, where the hell would you start looking for that.   :001: :001:

Haha. Skill’s not the issue dude!
Ps. Love Canada by the way.
