I use a GS Vario on my XR as its a better shape, bigger and more versatile (its a Vario after all). I can carry a 15" laptop bag in it easily. They fit the XR rack without any modification
    Lovely bikes those XRs

Do you have any pics of it on the bike, preferably as is and expanded?

There is only one colour coded top box which is a tad small. It will carry a helmet if you dont have anything else much in it. I dont like the look of other larger top boxes and think the OEM version looks the best  :305:

There is a large OEM colour coded top box, I've seen it at a dealership, but not on the bike.

The Vario is fairly flexible, but two things go against it:

It looks hideous on a bike like the XR - when extended to its full height.

It is heavy, even when empty.

You are right the Vario looks hideous when extended but I generally only do that to store my lid when parked. In the normal setting its a nice size and easily fits a laptop bag or other commuter stuff. Best thing to do is visit a dealer and ask to try one. Pidcock were happy to let me try one and didn't realise they fitted an XR

    Colour coded for which colour?
    Lol.

The thing I am most unhappy about with my bike is that I had to buy panniers in a different colour.
    Nice one BMW.
