Buyers Guide?
« on: April 24, 2018, 05:26:57 PM »
Is there a buyers guide anywhere on here?

I recently looked at a very low mileage 65 plate bike which had corrosion on the chain and rear fastenings.  It looked out of place on such a low mileage, well maintained bike.  Is this common on the XR?

I haven't had any corrosion to speak of. All the hardware is stainless...

Then again I don't live in an area that gets the roads salted.

I just last week spent a few hours in the rain with the stock well-maintained Regina chain and damn if the rollers weren't rusted a few hours after I got home. The DID I had on my '16 didn't do that  :187:

Not the end of the world, could have been used in the wet prior to being stored. it only takes a very short time for salt laden spray, to put some surface corrosion on to the chain etc. If the corrosion cleans off with a light clean, then should be no problem.
