Rear brake lever position
« on: May 23, 2018, 11:43:48 AM »
I picked up my new bike on Monday and just like the demo bike I found the position of the rear brake lever in a very awkward position. I have zero problems with the gear lever though. With my right foot on the peg it seems I have to really twist my knee to be able to find the lever and then it seems quite low too. I know the last problem will be an easy fix but are they any aftermarket products about. As I am short in the leg I find it difficult to hold the bike on the rear break and put my left foot on the floor as to get anything more than tiptoes down I have to hang my ass off the seat a bit.

Thanks for that. I will look them up and place an order.
So far its the only thing I have found on the bike that just doesn't fit. I can only imagine that the test riders at BMW have bowed legs.

Yes must have! The gear lever was hurting the top of my foot prior to getting the enlarger, maybe boots getting old but again had to angle in slightly, got to admit I am falling for the XR big time :305:

Keep in mind that you can easily adjust the gear levers position.

Loosen top connection bolt for rod 4. Loosen counter nut and turn eye either way until shift lever is where you want it. Tighten counter nut. Re-install top connection. You can also use the lower connection for adjustment.

Gear lever is fine. Its the position of rear brake that isn't right for me. Too low and too far to the left for my foot to reach it without having to twist my knee in an uncomfortable way.

Understood. I was more referring to those who spend money to buy a new gear level to change position when it's easily done on th stock lever  :002:
