Low suspension ground clearance
« on: May 27, 2018, 06:35:47 PM »
Good afternoon, just put deposit down on the low suspension SE model and am looking for advice, as I still have time to change my mind and swop for the standard height model.
So my questions are:
1. Is the ground clearance compromised with the low suspension model when cornering hard with a pillion?
2. Does the ESA, raise the ground clearance, the seat height or both, when selecting the rider + pillion option.
3. Does the factory fit low suspension model also include both the shorter main, and side stand?

Any advice will be much appreciated as today is Sunday and I only have till Tuesday to make the decision.

Many thanks in advance.

 :400: and good questions,

I’m picking up my lowered one on Saturday and I’m curious to know the answer to questions 1 and 3.

In regards to question 2:
I was told at my dealer than with the ESA when you select 2 helmets and luggage option that it does bring the bike up to the same height as a 1 helmet no luggage non lowered model if that makes sense.

But I’m keen to hear everyone’s thoughts

Hi chaps, when you select 2 helmets the suspension does rise up but only at stand still. It does work well.
I got a standard height XR but got it lowered, ground clearance no issue and I use standard centre stand. Unknown what comes with a standard lower model but I know you can get a shorter stand. :305:

Ah ok thanks for the replies, I’ve just spoke to the dealer and have been told  the factory lowered option comes with both stands shortened, so that’s ideal.

Yes the lowered version comes with factory lowered center and side stand.

I have the factory lowered version and I lowered it an additional 1".

I just came from the tail of the dragon, the snake, back of the dragon, devils triangle etc. and the only thing I dragged was the side of my boot when I forgot to move my boots so the balls of my feet were on the pegs instead of in the middle of my boots.

The ESA preload setting (Helmets and suitcase) raises the seat height, not the bike ground clearance

Ah that’s good to know, as I’ve just committed to the low version today.

Still can’t see the point of just the seat height rising when selecting the 2 helmet  + luggage setting though, as all that would do is just make it more awkward to get on and off the bike, it’s the ground clearance that needs to rise so it comes back down to ,’normal’ when the bike is fully loaded with passenger and cases, or am I missing something?

Think the preload raises the whole bike, how could it raise just the seat?

My exact thoughts... and by raising the whole bike, it will obviously increase the ground clearance...
