Yep I had ignition switch failure at about 2Kmiles, thing would not switch off.

Also had a battery failure at about 10K miles (always kept on battery tender)

Now at 14K miles right hand fork seal is weeping and going into dealer this weekend.

Mine is about 2.5years old, I have taken the extended warranty which I am hoping they will honour for the fork seal as a few people have had the same leg seal fail.

Only had a battery replacement under warranty.  2016 purchased in 2017 with 7,300 miles.  No other problems.

Not had the problem myself, but there is a known issue with the fuel pipe coming off under the tank. It appears its due to a missing pipe clip.
Just a thought to add.  :305: :305: Overall these bikes are pretty damm reliable, I personally would not extend the warrenty. As you are then tied in to Bmw for all your servicing work. But of course its a personal choice....

I really would not lose any sleep over this. Most of these issues, are in the minority. And I have always found BMW to be no worse than any other manufacturer in dealing with warranty work. In fact probably better than most.
As I had said before these bikes are pretty Damm reliable, as are most modern bikes.  :305: :305:

I have had 2 XR's and had no issues with either, which is good as I have had issues with other manufacturers.

Aside from a water pump, the bike has been perfect.

Good thing you didn't buy a Multistrada then!
I need to return some videotapes.

I get the impression that BMW's are not that reliable (cars or bikes) However the dealers seem to sort the issues out pretty well, so in the long run customers are fairly happy.

Edited to add

My old BMW 135i Coupe was the most unreliable car I have ever owned. At under 50K miles  just out of warranty I had New Fusebox, New ECU, New high pressure fuel pump and 2 new ABS/stability control pumps.

Great car to drive though :-)
