Hello everyone, new XR collect last Friday...well new to me.
Came from sports bikes to a GS bought in January. Decided it was not for me! The XR is spot on.
Question - at slow speeds the front brake seems to 'knock' when applied gently - traffic riding - is this normal?
Thanks in advance.

G'day jgk.... Welcome to the forum.
Your front brake "knock" might warrant a trip to the dealer to get it checked out...
No problems on my 17 model...

hi mate great choice of bike. Brake noise could be due to pads moving. would recommend a visit to the Dealer ... is the bike still under warranty ?. Keep us informed......

Thanks chaps, advice gratefully received.
Emailed the dealer - it's an 'approved' bike from Vines so yes all covered. They've been first class with the GS - new engine & gearbox due to corrosion - so I can't imagine they won't sort this.
I'll update as this may be of interest to others.
Cheers

Quick update, should anyone find it useful.....
I took the bike back to Vines and they have confirmed that the noise is the floating discs 'knocking' and is perfectly normal. Strange this was that the other used XR they had didn't have the same issue!
Anyhow, they've told me its perfectly safe and they'll check it again at the next service.
I'm no expert so if any of you clever chaps have an opinion I'd welcome the feedback.
Cheers.

Very strange that this "floating knocking sound is considered NORMAL by your stealer...???
Haven't heard or read of any similar justification before this ...

Could be a possibility. As the discs are floating and the action between disc's and pads could make this noise. Had some thing very similar on Suzuki track day bike, was very alarming when you applied the brakes, as you lost speed a very noisy knocking could be heard. But all was well. Keep us informed of the outcome.....
