DRL RetroFit
« on: July 12, 2018, 09:33:40 AM »
Hi guys,
I know that this issue is discussed before... But let me explain my situation.
I bought the parts (drl, drl mount, left combination switch, various bit and pieces) and made my own installation which wasn’t so hard after RapidBike evo installation. Harness is the same for both drl and non-drl bikes, you can see the drl connector right under steering column so I plugged it. We all know that drl have to be coded to ecu to operate. This is where things started to confusing. I call it confusing because I’m sure that I read somewhere that in Great Britain dealer done DRL retrofit by re-codding or re-flashing the ecu. But now the main BMW Motorrad Service Turkey tells me that they asked it to German headquarters and they replied that DRL RetroFit can’t be done.
So if anyone have experience about this, can you guide me what to do ?

Dont see why not - its only parts & software. Why not contact BMW in Germany?

Hi Guys, I want to give you update;
On Friday I went to service. Although Germany told them that it can't be done they wanted to try and see how it goes with Oem BMW Motorrad Diag tool. After updating all the modules (ecu, esa, abs.. etc) DRL works.

Thats great news :028:

I've not met a dealer yet thats fully clued up about this stuff, it usually takes some smarter member of the public to do his homework and then educate the dealer :008:
