I know this 'vibration' topic has been done to death but I thought I would share with you kind folk my experience in changing the rubber bushes today. My bike is quite bad, comfort is not the issue, seeing behind is!
I'm sure you'll all familiar with items 11 and 14 on the BMW parts schematic, well I bought these from the dealer for the princely sum of £15.40.
Having removed the bars and clamps, undone the main bolts through the yoke I found that the insert and mounts would not free up. Referring to the very same schematic; items 15 and 10 were corroded and stuck together completely meaning that I couldn't get the rubbers out.......
So, I managed to cut the exposed flange of the lower rubber off under the yoke (not a surgical cut, more of a tear with lots of foul language!) thus allowed the entire assembly to pass up through the hole in the yoke with brute force. Once out, I cut the remaining bottom and the top rubbers off and then heated the metal parts with a blow torch to get them apart. Wire brush, WD40 and magic....like new.
Took me around 2 hours to do the first one, 15 minutes to do the second.
Assembly was very straightforward.
Anyhow, all done. Not tested yet.
No idea if I've made a right meal of this but might be useful to someone thinking of doing the mod themselves.
Cheers.
