Navigator V or VI???
« on: July 21, 2018, 01:17:33 PM »
Do all the functions of the Nav V work on 2018 XR, or shall I purchase the Nav VI, are there any major differences to the Nav 6 over the Nav V?
Thanks

I have the Nav V.  It works very well with the XR, although it was probably meant to mate with the GS bikes.

My only problem with the Nav V is that the bluetooth connectivity is on and off.  Not very reliable.

For me, though, I use it to check traffic, look at routes I've pre-planned and monitor my ride data.  I don't need much more.  I do not know what the Nav VI has improved over the V.

I also have the IV. It works perfectly with the XR, but I would imagine that the VI, would have some updates. If you feel that you might need them, then there is the answer.  :084:

Hi,just seen a blog on youtube the screen on the VI is glossy looking and apparently is easier to see in direct sun light. Have a look.

NAV 6 has the transflective sreen like the aviation displays that Garmin is famous for. It uses available ambient light to brighten the display and use less power and generates less heat. Way to go.

This is not going to help those with a Cluster Clock issue, but the clock on my '16 is updated whenever I connect my Nav VI. I don't usually change my time for DST, but when I put the Nav VI in the dock the clock updated to the correct time(did the same thing on my wife GSw)

Yep my clock changes when the sat-nav is in the cradle. Although it does work normally anyway. But it does change automatically when you go abroad. and of course changes back when you arrive back....

I have a Nav V which works well and works with the handlebar controls and also updates the bike clock automatically providing that you have the correct setting in the bike set up menu. The clock even updates automatically when you are in europe for the different time zones. Bluetooth works great with my Sena headset and I play music via the SD card inserted in my Nav V which I can control from my Nav along with my phone.

Dont know the difference in price between the Nav V and VI.

I also like Basecamp which works fine for me.  :305:

Paul,

I'm afraid you shot yourself in the foot with the comment "I also like Basecamp which works fine for me." - Don't you know that nobody likes basecamp.... :087:

I don't have issues with it either, bit of a learning curve, but not completely horrendous.
