Thought I'd share my auxiliary lighting solution, not professional in any way but clean and simple.
I came from a GS and always considered the principle of 'illumination triangle' to be a very effective way of increasing road presence but never really liked the idea of large spots on my XR - no disrespect to anyone, just personal taste.
So, I found some really small 3W LED spots designed to mount on the mirror fixings. They are about 20mm diameter and incredibly bright. Rather than permanent wiring I used an old DIN socket & lead taken from an old charger and wired them directly to the power socket. Quick, safe and easily reversible.
Now, I know this is a little Heath Robinson but it started as a test to see how the lights would look and if they might make any difference to the every increasing risk of a SMIDSY; hard to prove obviously......... but I like them and they certainly make the bike more visible.
Total cost - UKĀ£40. Total time - about 30 minutes.
Photo's - hopefully you can see them below.
Thanks.
