Hello all from the Isle of Man

Had my s1000xr for about two months now and absolutely love the thing. Not log back from a 3000mile trip in Europe and the only thing that concerns me about the bike is that at 140mph it starts to speed wobble 😣 now I'm not to sure where to start to sort this problem out. I can only think of a few things that causes this and that's either the standard steering damper needs changing the front suspension wants tweaking or it's the hand gards with the wind. Any suggestions would be ace sorry if this isn't the right place to post this it's my first ever forum I've joined 😂

How often are you wanting to travel at 140mph? Hardly an issue if kept under that

As seen on previous post, as an easy first attempt at a solution, check wheel balancing....

If its no problem, under 140mph. Then are you using panniers and or top box ?. If so I would say there is your possible answer. Bikes do not like Panniers or top box's at high speed, as they will cause air disruption around the bike. Similar to when you pass a heavy truck and you get a wobble. Just a thought.

Come to think of it the bike was fully loaded with pennies and top box so will have to try that out without the luggage thank you 👍

agree that luggage is usually the problem. Having said that I've owned several Ducati Multistrada's which is a similar type of bike and can confirm that this style of bike does not suit continuous very high speed running. They are usually fine up to about 120 mph but any higher for prolonged periods is asking for trouble, mind you I can't think why you would want to go over this speed for very long periods at a time?

Welcome along, the panniers will almost definitely be the problem, you’re a brave man doing that speed with panniers, mine are bad enough at motorway(ish) speed lol.

Hello Skinz. Welcome. I'd love to be able to go 140 around my area. No place to do it.

Well, there are
plenty
of places to do it... what are you willing to risk?
