I have to say goodbye to my 1 1/2 year old ref S1000XR after almost 16000 miles

Guess you didn't like the XR very much.  18 months and gone is not much of a positive review  :192:....Oh wait, you bought another, maybe it's not so bad after all!

Thats exactly what I will do - going to buy my next and 3rd red XR in March next year, and I will already have all the extras I need on my current XR which I will transplant. Just waiting to find out what changes the 2019 XR will have, if any. Do hope BMW actually address some of the areas that need updating and improvement this time and not just cosmetic changes. Proper hot heated grips, better fuelling, locking sat nav mount, TFT screen, ......... who knows   :305:

With the new GS and RR out for the spring, it looks like spring 2020 before any major changes to the XR, seems that is the BMW cycle but they are keener with the GS as they sell so many
I have avoided the big 18K service and despite a couple of niggles, after riding other bikes once I got back on the XR it was a no brainer for me - I love it
2.5 years of ownership and I still smile when I ride it (Typo with the 1 and a half earlier)
Its been to France, Germany and Spain and apart from a new battery and water pump replaced under warranty, it has been hassle free
Oh, and I get an extra 5hp, like it needs it  :112:

You're right, each to their own
Nothing else out there that excites me enough to buy that is suitable for what I want it for
At least I know I will not regret buying it

Same sentiment here, cannot see anything out there that excites me enough to consider a change. The XR actually does it all for me.

This makes me wonder...

... anyone here have a high mileage XR? Say... averaging over 10,000 miles a year?  :027:
