I filled up with fuel yesterday with XR on the side stand, once I’ve paid my usual practice is to swing my leg over it, haul it upright and turn on the ignition and up goes the fuel gauge to full.
Yesterday I turned on the ignition with it on the side stand. Watching the fuel gauge it stayed resolutely empty. My first thought was; the fuel sensor was buggered (As happened on my Caponord 1200 when the ethanol ate the float and it behaved as above). I started the engine on the side stand, still stuck on empty - more cursing. Sat on the bike and as I pulled it upright the gauge ramped up to full!!!
I haven’t checked the manual to see if this is a feature, but I concluded that the gauge is connected to the IMU and only registers when the bike is level.
That’s quite clever imo.
