New s1000rr for 2019
« on: September 07, 2018, 08:22:55 PM »
Is this the way the XR is going.  Just read this article in MCN online. They are showcasing the absolutely new S1000RR, for 2019.
Interestingly it has a completely new Engine. Not an updated one, but completely redesigned. Now as the XR is from the same family, I would imaging that would be a direct replacement for the XR when it gets its next update ?. Makes a good read, and is certainly food for thought..... Just to add its not just the Engine but the whole shebang. frame, swing-arm, ect.

Just type in the search bar,   MCN S1000RR new bike

Don't forget we're approaching the autumn silly season when there's so much speculation about new bikes ahead of the m/c shows like Intermot and Eicma.

However, I think this one is quite feasable as BMW have dropped behind recently with the RR as other manufacturers have caught up. There's also speculation of a new Fireblade with more power (215PS in fact), yet more reason for BMW to raise their game in the supersport market.

Will it carry over to the XR though ? Guess it needs to be cost effective for them to dump the existing engine and replace it. Thats assuming it really is completely new. They could well hang on for another year or so before slinging the new lump in the XR/R.

Interesting though, it's the question that everyone will be asking, along with S1R owners.

Could be chat about this for months and months !    :001:

Should filter down to us in 2020/21 all being well. Can't see a new fireblade this year. Their latest attempt is barely 2 years old.

Euro 5 is coming in 2020, so that could be a reason for the new engine in the RR, which could then filter down to the XR.

I wonder when we will hear what changes there will be for the 2019 XR. The bike has not really changed that much since its introduction in 2015 and there has been virtually no attempt to improve the design beyond vibrations and EU4 and a few colour changes. I need to change my bike next year and was really wanting an improved XR  :305:

I personally am not a big fan of those cad images for the aesthetics l... i think the headlights are going in the R1 direction, the those RR front fairing was that made it stand out from the rest completely.

Just read on the XR Owners group that the 2019 XR will have an uprated engine producing increased power & torque and a lighter titanium exhaust. Thats nice for a start.   :305:
