Hello from Bangkok
« on: September 13, 2018, 03:58:58 PM »
I'm from Hungary and living in Thailand, started with scooter here for a year then had a Kawasaki Vulcan 650s for another. Once I tried a few BMW bikes at a local shop and I fell in love instantly with the s1000xr, so after a month or two I just bought it...   :001: Since that I use it every day for communing and touring also around in SE Asia, first week unlocked 1k km then 10k in a few months.
I had no problem with the bike whatsoever except with the ignition switch, that got fcked up in a middle of nowhere, basically I was unable to turn the bike off when I removed my key from slot, also I was able to turn the engine on without key..  :008: BMW fixed it in warranty and no problem since.
I got some extra aftermarket stuff, such as grill protectors, heavy handlebar ends and crash bobbins form evotech.

I had the same problem with the key after I got to hotel in Spain for Aragon MotoGP.

If you remove the battery then it can't be started unless you put the key back in again as it has to read the imobiliser again. Ball ache having to remove battery every time I parked up.

I removed the battery every time I stopped, I had no other choice.

Yep that's what I did, however after a couple of days key started working again :-) They replaced barrel at the next service though.
