Hello From Virginia

Hi everyone! I'm a long time BMW rider that has been without a bike for 5 years due to horrific divorce... And now I am back in the saddle with a 2016 S1000XR. My last bike was a 2006 K1200S that I rode the sh#t out of in Los Angeles. Looking forward to this upgraded machine! I just added Akrapovic headers and sp engineering can as well as larger windscreen and brighter lights all around.
Cheers!

Congratulations! I think you’ll find that you’ll “really” enjoy the XR. IMO it’ll take BMW some hard work to improve on it (I’m sure they’ll come up with something).
BTW, I hear that there are some great roads in VA, which you and the XR should enjoy! As for you previously living/ riding in Los Angeles, I feel that the best riding was from the 70's, until around 2007, thereafter it’s been downhill. As of 2018, IMO there’s way too much traffic and people. Living in Dana Point, I loved going/ riding to Malibu, and the Crest, however its typically so crowded on the weekends, not to mention the approximately 70-mile one-way trip of congested freeway that my weekend rides now consist of riding the “not as crowded” various roads of N & S San Diego County (I’ll get off my soapbox).

Wow, thanks for the note Mike. It's funny you mentioned CA traffic. It was a 3 week vacation this August in Ojai during which I borrowed my cousins R1200RT that reignited my "motorcycle memory" prompting me to get this one. And I did go up the coast along PCH once and it was awful. The best riding I got to do was in the Los Padres national forest from Ojai into the mountains. It was so beautiful and twisty. It would have been nice on this bike! Cheers!
