nowhere near that on the XR but the R was good to go for the 18k valve check. A friends R was also good at 18k and 36k.

Thanks for the reply Simon, do you use a lot of engine braking and us the upper end of the rev range a lot or are you more of a short shifter ?
I find my self in lower gears using a lot of revs on this bike rather than short shifting. How did you tend to ride your r ?

Most of the roads I ride up in the mountains(hills compared to the Alps!!) here I generally run in 2nd gear, so mostly running form 5k to 9k rpm. I don't spend a lot of time at 10k+, but I don't think I baby her either! I do use engine braking(in fact I wish the I4 had more of it!!).

The clearances were within spec on mine at 18K
The service plan only covered checking, not adjustment.

Pretty sure there's an "Engine Braking" parameter adjustment in the Rapid Bike Evo module I have fitted....not played with it yet though.

I have decided to go my own way doing the servicing now, so deciding if I just do the rest of it and leave the valve clearances for another day.
I would just do it if I could get the timing tool cheaply. I know I can check the clearances without the tool, but if i am going to bother to take it apart I would want to check the valve timing as well and that needs the tools.
