Pre-2017 Vib retro fix
on:
October 14, 2018, 05:04:10 PM
1st post I searched and didn't find anything about this .... so
I was speaking to a BMW motorrad salesman who was trying to flog me the pre 2017 "vibby" bike, he stated that BMW will/have retrofitted the same fix for post 2017 bikes for free to pre 2017 bikes aka a rubber mount and new engine map.
Has anyone had this retro fix ? Did it help ? I already know about heavier bar weights
Thanks

Hi mate, when I got my 16 bike, I got them to do the retro fit, it was free, with the bar ends and some decent mileage I do not have any vibes at all.
They should do it without any issues.
I did not know.about another map though?

Mines a 2016 with no retro fit or bar ends when I picked it up for new I did notice a little bit of vibes but that was because I was looking for them after reading so much about it as soon as I got on some twisty roads they disappeared nearly 30000 miles later and still no sign of them returning maybe im lucky with mine but I think way too much has been made of this

I am convinced it is a individual thing, plus for some it has been planted in there head, so it must be true. It is a shame if it does spoil your ride looking for it.

Mine (2016) does it a bit at some RPMs, so did my K1300S. So do lots of 4 cyclnder engines.
It's no big deal and it certainly doesn't spoil my day.

Not sure you searched hard enough. Thee word "vibration" would give you the largest number of hits on this site.
Rubber mounts are offered as a field fix to almost everyone who complained to their dealer. Results are hit and miss, depending how bad the bike was to start with. Never heard about any remap being offered though.

I picked up a pair of these mounts for cheap, but quickly realized how much disassembly would be required to put them in place... and then wondered if the dealer had put them in already since my vibes are minimal, but notable.
With your suggestion, though, I'll just tell 'em to take care of it next time I go in; it doesn't cost anything.
