I'd agree that it's the best sports tourer.
The adventure label is meaningless to me, despite what the marketeers would like. I have an adventure every time I ride  :152: whatever it is.

I'm not normally on to agree with what 'journalists' proclaim, but in this instance I'll make an exception.

I presume it's won it every year since it's been out?  If it didn't the competition must have been getting worse seeing as the xr hasn't changed.......

Yeah, most people looking at the XR would be cross shopping the KTM GT as well.

I rode the Superduke, along with the Multistrada before deciding on the XR. All are exceptional machines.
The KTM has a monster of an engine and the Ducati is a great all-round machine....but the stories of poor reliability and poor customer service for them both put me off....so the XR is what I ended up with.

The above is where it gets complicated  :002: when I custom ordered my X/R end of 15 their was no GT or Tiger Sport it(very understated)was a straight decision either Multi or X/R having borrowed a GT this year of a mate for 3 weeks it has a multitude of things I don’t like combine that with finding a decent dealer/warranty etc then a straight forward decision it ain’t complicated with a fierce sum motor which is an absolute wonder.

Came down to price for me, BMW dealer was happy to do a deal, the others not so at the time.

I think if the deals for the GT that were around xmas last year were available I probably would have had a more serious look.

That said now I have come to value the fact that the BMW network of dealers makes getting back on the road while away a whole lot easier if something goes wrong.

For me it was a no brain'er. Triumph would never get a look in going by my past experience. And although I have had KTM's in the past.
( All off road ) it was always going to be the lack of dealer back up, rather than the bike it's self. Ducati never have peaked my interest, so it came down to the XR and I can honestly say I have never regretted that decision. And it was also made easier, having owned BMs in the past. I have come to appreciate the service back up, and no quibble ( in most case's ) approach that I have experienced.
