Seat cover and gel inserts
« on: October 20, 2018, 05:57:07 PM »
Hi all
I just want to share my new upgrade to my belowed  XR. Today me and my friend fitted Tappezeria Italia comfort seat cover and gel pads. It's a great improvement to a standard seat, it's very comfy.
If any one is interested my friend can do it for you.
I bought the cover from eBay, many designs you can find here https://www.tappezzeriaitalia.it/gb/s-1000-xr/508-seat-bmw-xr-1000-model-ardea-comfort.html

Thanks for the post. I find the stock seat to be tilted forward. Does this seat correct this?

Do you have a photo of the gel insert for the driver's seat?

Also, how difficult was it to install and did you need an upholstery stapler?

Does it increase the thickness of the seat padding by much? I have the BMW low seat on mine but if I lower the bike too (via Soupy's or Cymarc) it would be nice to have some extra comfort.
Also can you feel the seams? They look pretty substantial.

Yes you need a stapler, it is not that difficult but it all depends on your skills. Me and my friend it took us around 4 hours to do it.  I guess you can correct little the seat positioning by removing less foam from the seat but we added that plastic wool for added comfort and to eliminate any edges.

No you cannot feel the seams. We used 2cm gel pads and for extra comfort and to eliminate any edges between foam and gel we used that plastic wool. I don't know how much higher is that seat now but it is higher I guess it all depends do you want to use that wool or not and you can use 1cm gel padding which is easier to fit into the foam.
