For anyone who likes to chirpy-up their headlights a bit, Osram have a new version of the Nightbreaker - the "Laser". They claim all the usual stuff but better (brighter than the sun etc).
Euro Car Parts are knocking-out the H7 at £19.99 a pair at the moment.
Meanwhile I'm still waiting for a decent H7 LED that's actually bright and doesn't require cutting up the housing and whose scattered beam doesn't blind everyone in a 5 mile radius.

Upgraded globes are known to have a shorter service life... and the actual improvements are minimal.
Better to put on some decent LED lamps - good quality units will last for years and provide you with a real improvement in night vision.
I've found out the hard way, its better to leave all the factory components and wiring alone. If you want to fit additional electrics to your bike, isolate them from the standard equipment. This new K1600 has been a nightmare.

I fitted some Phillips Extreme 130 in my previous XR and they were still fine when I traded the bike in and must have been in for at least a year - that bike did not have DRL so the lights were always on. The lights were noticeably better and it was just a quick bulb change. No problem with hot lens either. If you have DRL then of course the lights are off during the day anyway so you only use the lights if you ride at night.

Nightbreakers are fantastic on my Focus, changed the stock bulbs within two days of buying the car, such a difference!
No idea on the bike as I've no chance of finding out but recommend, and no life expectancy issues, had the car nearly 3yrs from new still on those bulbs, and I work shifts so they are on a lot

I've just read that Philips Racing Vision are the new best thing. Haven't tried them (testing HID at the moment).
About £22 a pair on Amazon.

Yes...................But be aware, Philips make it quite clear that they are only good for 150 hours, its on the back of the pack...............

I've just popped in a pair of Philips Xtreme Vision PLUS 130% Extra Light - H7's. £22 posted from Euro Car Parts.
Not tried them in the dark yet, but have decided not to go led or hid on this bike.
If I do anything it will be auxiliary led spots or floods.
