TFT dash for 2019
« on: October 30, 2018, 05:47:24 PM »
So, saw today leaked specs of the S1000rr. It gets the TFT display for 2019. Surely this means the XR will follow around the same time. I'm getting a new or replacement bike in the spring 2019 so hoping the triple black has the TFT display by then. Now that would tick most of my boxes. 😁👍

Yep the S1000RR gets a big update in 2019. This includes a completely new engine, not an updated one but new from the ground up. Plus as you have said, TFT dash ect. It will all come to the XR, but I would not hold your breath for 2019. Maybe 2020, depends a lot on how sales are effected by the newer, Ducati, KTM , ect. At the moment xr sales appear to be strong. So it's a wait and see I think.

I had a loaner gs850 recently which had the tft display. Each to their own, but I found it tooooooooo distracting and if the new one comes out with a choice of display I would take the current set up any day. Needle rev counters rule :020:

Not a fan. TFT dashes are cheaper, that's why they use them.

A needle gauge is far more intuitive and easier to see in all lighting conditions.

I took a F850GS for a test ride, (before I signed for the XR) - personally I LOVED the TFT display.

IF the XR does get a TFT screen... I will be sorely tempted!!

TFT dash certainly would not give me the incentive to change up... Not saying I dislike them. I'm just not, concerned if it doesn't have one.

Each to his own....... BUT in two years time try buying a new bike that HASN'T got a TFT screen. it will be as standard as ABS, traction control etc..
