Iphone mounting suggestions
« on: December 10, 2018, 07:04:39 PM »
Hi guys

I am trying to figure out a solution to mount my iphone to the GPS mount bar instead of the original craddle position where you place the NAV V.
Up until now i have and X-grip for my Iphone coupled with a RAM mount bar holder. At first it seems perfect but after 15-20 minutes of ridding the entire setup swings downwards because of the vibrations, so have to constantly stop and re-position and tighten everything. It's a real pain in the ass.But i love the position of the phone it's right up there high behind the windscreen i don't need to move my eyes too much from the road.

Any suggestions?

This is the ram mount i have but with all the weight of the rig setup and phone everything just rotates around the bar after  a short time.

RAM mount into one of the handlebar fixing bolts.

I have used these with a SatNav's and Cameras on bikes and its never moved when clamped up properly.

I have one on the XR that I use with a camera.

Wunderlich "Media" Handlebar Bag. I used one is Spain when the Nav 5 got lost and only Google maps knew where we were. Ok, it sits below the clocks but also really useful for passport tickets and general bits as well. I plugged in my Galaxy S9 and it fits the iphone x brilliantly as well.

A strip of that anti slip mat wrapped around the bar might help stop it rotating?

Hmmm don't think so, your talking about the skateboard grip tape. The bar is too small i think for the glue to stick well.
But maybe a rubber strip of some sort around the bar and then clamping down on that could maybe work.

I think that fitting should come supplied with a rubber insert. I use the 'U' bolt version with a heavier TomTom nav and have no movement at all. This is with a rubber insert for grip.

If this is missing from your set up, then that would almost certainly fix it.  :028:

I don't see any reviews on this mount. Has anyone on this forum used it?
