Tomorrow at dark o'clock I will be setting off on a 4 night blast around the Highlands of Scotland so will see for myself if this magical bike is good for touring !

Wet to Scotland last year on the blade. Some of the best roads in the world, and ive driven in Belgium and Germany. only did the day trip over on the ferry, its all you could cope with on a sports bike... Looking to go back on the xr to do it right

I have actually fitted my old bark buster blizzards which although do not completely suit the bike as well as they did the GS they are a bit better than full muffs and a shite bag

I have returned !
1425 miles in 5 days of which only 70 were motorway/dual carriage
Average speed 48 mph and fuel economy of 46mpg !
Bike was brilliant for touring on and as comfy as a comfy comfy thing
Back tyre is shot to pieces now at 3K !!!

Great to hear mate... Im looking forward to a few trips next year... hopefully heading over to Scotland on sunday here (weather permitting) for one last decent gallop of the year

Nice how far north did you get? The north road from John o groats to Ullapool I found was about the best especially the 40 odd mile of single track round the smaller lochs.
