Handle Bar Vibration Remedy
« on: January 07, 2019, 02:23:04 PM »
I have about 500 total miles on my new (old stock) 2016 S1000XR and just installed HVMP bar ends over the weekend.  I rode about 150 miles with the new bar ends and they made a significant difference.  I would say they have reduced the vibration by about 50-60%.  Well worth the money.  Installation was simple and took about 5 minutes.  The fit and finish are top rate and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to reduce the buzz.

On a side note, the more miles i put on the bike the more i love it.  The motor is amazing and it handles like a dream.

Cheers

You will also notice as the miles go on, any vibes you may have had reduce more. I am on a 15 plate and I do not notice any vibes at all..

Hi...Also I installed the weights (in italian they have a horrible name...it's "contrappesi" :-) ). So i googled for  HVMP bar ends, and I found hvmp site
The price is "Base Price: $94.00 "  =8-O .. is this the real "street price" ? I installed the hornig weights, 178grams each one, price (for both) is about 37$. Do I miss something?
Regards...

If my 16 have vibes I don't notice them anymore. Guess they were gone by 15k-18k. They defiantly decrease as the motor breaks in.

XRRider,

By my math, the Evotech and HVMP bars weigh about 70+/-% more than the ones you installed.  Both of these come in at about 11oz a piece.  I can't say if one is better at solving the issue than the other, but if weight is the key, it would seem these two brands have a significant edge.

I just changed tires on my 2016 with 10K miles on it.

The funny thing is that I didn't notice really any vibrations on my prior tires, Pirelli Angle GTs.  I just put on Dunlop Q3+ and the vibrations are back!  No enough to worry about, but definitely buzzy.

I did have the retrofit grommets done by BMW but no bar weights yet.

Certainly in the UK you can go to a BMW Motorrad dealer complain about the vibration,  they will promise nothing BUT FOR FREE fit the latest bushes and washers and solve the issue ! It did for me

I installed the HVMP bar ends too but also bought some longer bolts and added the original bar ends to the HVMP ends.  My bike was particularly affected by vibrations but are almost non existent now

Hi, my XR is a 2016 model with 5500 miles. I’ve just spent 260 miles on it today and the vibes are no worse than any other in line 4 I’ve had. It has the heavy bar-ends and the rubber handle-bar mounts BMW fix, and the hands and feet were fine after the ride today. When new and before the mods it would have left my hands and feet tingling.

I imagine it’s a combination of the mods and the miles on the engine. What 260 miles reminded me was what a fantastic bike this is - a great combination of engine, handling and comfort.

Put a set of heavy Evotech's just after I bought my 2018. Don't even notice it after a few thousand miles.
