Shaking windscreen and dash?
« on: January 07, 2019, 05:20:15 PM »
Hey all,

I tried an admittedly low-effort search on this and couldn't come up with an answer.

At speeds over about 80mph my entire dash and windscreen start to oscillate back and forth a bit. It doesn't greatly effect handling or visibility, but it looks like garbage and can't possibly be good for the bike. Happens with the OEM screen and my Puig Sport short screen.

I get that it's not a sportbike, but the machine shouldn't have wiggly bits at speed... right? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks in advance.

Nope no movement at all with both standard and MRA vario screens up to 130mph nothing moves. At a standstill I can move the screen a little where the brackets are able to move but nothing that sounds anything like yours I'm afraid. Sounds like a thorough check of bolts and tightness all around the front to me ?

Might pay to check wheel balance....!!

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather....not screaming like the passengers in his car..!

Can’t feel it in the bars really. But I’ll check that when I put new tires on in March.

Any chance you lean well-forward with your arms bent further to allow it?

Altering the low-pressure area behind the screen (by your torso being closer) - may cause buffeting in that area.

I mean, yes, I tuck behind the screen for maximum speed. That really shouldn’t cause this kind of shake. At least I’d hope not!

Probably not the same, but I thought my SatNav was going to shake its self off the bracket. Problem was a ding in the front wheel putting it way out of balance.

Balancing the wheel helped a lot but now I have a straight front wheel its gone completely.

I kind of remember hitting a big pot hole and thinking that was a a big hit, turns out it was :-)
