New to forum and BMW.
« on: January 08, 2019, 09:05:09 AM »
Hi there.  :158:
With 40 years of riding, some of it off road, never owned a BMW. I hated the GS and found the S10 more capable off road. Had the XT1200 and a 1400GTR at the same time.
After an accident involving a Great Dane while on a walk, I ended up with a hip replacement, and found the 350kg of my sports tourer a bit heavy when not in motion.  :021: Also, I never go off road anymore, doctors orders.
My son bought a 2018 Superduke and I found it not so nice when giving it a run. The dash lights up like a Christmas tree while managing my riding. Very intrusive. I preferred my daughter's CB1000r engine wise and no electronics except ABS.
He suggested the S1000XR and I booked a demo ride. I wasn't too sure at first, but when I took it to open road, I was hooked. Traded in my Kawa 1400 and since September 18 have put 9000km on by commuting to work.
My son claims my 'quickshifter' is better than his, but my 'downblipper' is worse. With lower horses than the Superduke, I do lag slightly behind when we race each other, but who cares? (He does, of course.)  :192:
We all use my 2012 Superten as a spare now.
