Levers that work with cruise and quickshifter
« on: September 28, 2015, 09:39:25 AM »
I posted this on the other XR forum:
Hi All
I bought my red XR in August and am very happy, apart from the levers.
Not willing to spend the amount of money that BMW ask for their levers I waited for someone else.
I got an email the other week from V-Trec to say that their levers were now ready for the XR. I ordered them on the Friday and they arrived on Wednesday.
Fitting was fairly straightforward as long as you have the correct range of Torx tools.
And the answer you have all been waiting for me to answer is yes they do work with the microswitches so quickshifter up and down and cruise control all work perfectly.
I have had V-Trec levers before on my Z1000 and my Tuono V4 and their quality is very good.
Highly recommended and certainly worth £75 instead of £320.
I bought the short red ones with gold adjusters, but ultimately it doesn't matter as they are behind the handguards.
Cheers to all and enjoy your bikes.
Gary

Thanks Gary.
There seem to be four variants, which do you go for please?
Cheers

I went for the shortys as the shorty clutch lever doesnt hit the Nav 5 control wheel when you pull it in - I think the variable exender version does.

I have the V-Trec full size variable length lever and it doesn't affect the GPS Wheel. This is the design without the hinged break-away lever. The design with the break-away feature has less clearance where the lever could touch the control when fully pulled to the grip.
