Carbon Bits
on: October 04, 2015, 11:58:06 PM
Unfortunatly my willpower is completky broken and I have started changing bits on the XR: first a tinted screen and now a carbon hugger ( awesome quality bit of kit from the states - £130 from e-bay!). I am now looking at the hugger, but so far everything looks so expensive (I don`t like the Powerbronze item due to the mesh inserts and the makers name on it. Anyone know of anything a bit more realistic in the price department??

Have to agree with the powerbronze items... They have potential to be really nice but the logo and mesh makes it look cluttered and cheap.

Just thought I'd bump this thread having been looking at a few carbon bits myself for the new XR I have sat in the garage.

Has anybody looked at which parts cross over from the S1000r & S1000rr?

By the looks of it the front mudguard is the same fitment across all models,

I also think that the rear hugger is likely the same as the s1000r, possibly even the RR (TBC)

Can anybody confirm?

I swapped the front mudguard and the radiator and oil guards from my R to XR.

Cheers Gilly, good info

I've been trying to get a list together on the other forum of crossover parts that fit the entire S range as not many sellers list parts as fitting the XR.

Don't suppose you fitted a rear hugger did you bud? Also were the radiator guards R&G?

Carbon mud guard and the tail piece look great.
The lower failing piece will be next.

Is that a carbom hugger and if it is, is it the overprced official BMW item?
