Loose gearbox case bolt
« on: March 25, 2019, 08:14:57 AM »
Morning all, after a ride yesterday afternoon I notice an oil leak onto the exhaust that was dripping from a gearbox bolt as per the image. This bolt was very loose and could be turned by hand.

Has anybody had anything similar and does anybody know the correct torques setting for it.

Thanks

Never mind that!  Have you tried to get the sprocket cover and cabling back on yet???

What a pain!

That will be tonight's little project once i have cleaned up around it.

The bike is to be collected by BMW Allan Jefferies for warranty work.

Still interested to know if anybody else has suffered this issue.

Haynes manual says "Tighten them first to 3 Nm then further through a quarter turn"
I need to return some videotapes.

Well, the bikes back from the dealers, bolt re tightened and oil tight again. ( could have quite easily done this myself, but thought best to utilise the warranty)
Can’t fault Allan Jefferies’s service, collected Wednesday and returned Thursday.
