I didn't actually ignore the GT, but when we eyeballed it we both thought - no thanks. As I said, if it was just for me the GT would be perfect. The SA-S is like a more accommodating XR, which is ideal. Also the pannier options for the GT are limited, I can get Shad for the SA-S.

Oh blimey I get that my mate has gone the same route one of the joys of more than one bike I don't need one bike that does it all I actually think this bike will get the job done I've already put plenty of work into it but if it doesn't we'll ride something else and just use it in the UK.

  Is that cash or finance?

What are the ergonomics like compared to the S1000XR please?

May be tempted to take one out for a spin before I pull the pin at BMW.

The problem any KTM buyer has!!! will they pull the carpet from underneath you at a later date price wise and how good is your nearest dealer.

I spent all my time trying to buy one at the right price and did but trust KTM I do not BMW are far less likely to stab you in the back price wise I'm no fan of the TFT screen and the bloody ugly headlight was the straw that broke the camels back  :001: and went and  bought one of the 11k discounted GT's from December 17 for less.

Have got to agree KTM have not been the best friend to owners, slashing the price like they did was a blow if you wanted to sell yours. But very good for the buyer, as long as you like to hang onto them. I have looked at them in the past but have been put off by the lack of dealers and not overly keen on the looks, but a stonking engine by all accounts. And if you have room in the garage then why not....

Northampton KTM are doing the 2018 GT at £13,499 do not no if there's any wriggle room on that...
Update today spotted a 2019 1290 SAS with just 1,400 miles for £11,800 in MCN ( dealer add ) an absolute steal if thats what floats your boat. But crap resale residue if you already own one.

sorry but should we change the site to the KTM owners site? :745:
After over thirty years behind the bars, I’ve still not done it all or seen it all.

From the Man who profess’s To buy secondhand!! You seem in a rush to waste other folks money £13,499 for an 18 GT your having laugh, they(KTM) killed the market December 17 with the result they only sold 30 GT’s in 2018 which serves them right a new one(18)has been under 13k for months but on the basis the 18 is the same as the 17 colour excepted and when it suited KTM they dumped them at 2K less than that it’s not a game for the feint hearted  :002:

Yep second hand for me. And as for wasting their money, on that I could not comment.  :002:  But that leads on to the very reason why I always buy well chosen used bikes with all of the toys already fitted great value against new. And KTM is a clear contender for very good used bikes and a low price as they do appear to drop their new bike prices at the drop of a hat.. Great for the buyer but crap for the owner's used residue. But ktm not for me. Love the off road bikes though.
