@Mark, thanks for the pics. Pleasingly I think the V47 doesn’t actually look too bad size-wise. It’s a contender on my list.

I think half of getting your first top is about recalibrating your perspective of what doesn’t look too silly. Or it is for me anyway.

It has a carbon look lid and the silver sides and smoked side panels match the rear of the bike quite well IMO  :002:

I will be looking for a top box too shortly if I get a good deal on the XR at BMW.

I want something that will hold two full face helmets and comfortable for the girlfriend to rest on. Would I be looking at the 47 litre bathtubs?

As feedback, I went with the Givi V47 NNT and the Givi SRA5119 (XR) mount plate in the end. I've not used it in anger yet, but against my original concern of whether it looked excessive or not, the answer is no; it looks absolutely fine size wise, and the styling suits the XR well too. I had expected it to look like a bit of a wart stuck on the back, but actually the bike looks pretty good with it on - not worse, just different tbh. - cheers for advice and pictures all  :002:

Good luck, bottom line is what fits your needs. The Mrs no longer rides pillion so I have a smaller top box, sufficient for a helmet, gloves and camera.

I bought a 47 (neon and carbon black) and think it looks bonkers on my XR (Deliveroo - anyone?  :110:) - but saw the same one on a Tracer 900 and thought it looked okay??  :112:

Might take it on next holidays.
