S1000XR to get Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres ?
« on: March 10, 2015, 10:10:10 AM »
Noticed that the test bikes on the dealer launch were running Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres.

Never ridden on the Rosso two's myself but everyone says they're a decent tyre so all good  :152:

The Diablo Rosso II's are great tyres, heaps of grip, nice feedback, quite quick turn in. Would be interesting to see how that fair on a XR with the longer suspension travel, suspect the combination would work well imo  :084:

Nice to see the manufacturers sticking decent tyres on bikes these days. If you're a brisk rider don't expect em to last long though.  :007:

If your bike comes with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres don't forget you can create your own “personalised” labels and apply them to the dedicated spaces on the side walls of your tyres.

Details are here:

My XR has these on.  Having no previous experience of them, I'm very impressed.
The bike turns in like it's on ball-bearings. It'll be interesting to see what mileage I get out of them.

Brilliant - have just ordered these labels (little things please little minds) - pointless waste of money except that they're cool!).

P.S. The tyres are absolutely fabulous, as grippy as a grippy thing with great feeling on turn in and blast out.
Am very used to Michelin PR3s and 4s because it is wet a lot here in sunny UK  so it will be interesting to find out how the Rossos perform in the wet.

When I saw the demo XR in my Australian dealership it had Bridgestones on, however when my bike arrived a couple of weeks ago it was fitted with the Rossos.

The Bridgestones on my last bike (Kawasaki Ninja 1000) squared off after 6000Kms so we'll see how these do. I'm a big fan of the Pirelli Angel GTs for touring and got 12000Kms out of a set on my last bike before they square off a tiny bit.

Strange I have 5K miles on my T30's and they are on half legal limit.  I am in London so cannot go too brisk and usually keep it in Road till I get out of the capital but don't hang about either.  Also 2K was loaded 2up through Alps.  Stock pressure though do have Nitrogen in them advantage of a family member who works for a tyre firm.  Just too bad they don't have a dynamic motorcycle balancer.

What are the benefits of filling the tyres with nitrogen?
