Hello from the UK
« on: August 20, 2019, 07:26:52 AM »
Hello all,
I've just joined as I'm looking for a more in depth forum for S1000XR owners.
My bike was bought new by me in 2015 & currently has around 22,000 miles on the odometer.
It's got a full Akrapovic system & has been remapped, I'm not a change it every few years sort of chap (my VFR750 has 106,000 mile) so view this bike as a long term owner.

Welcome Paganman. Have you had any serious issues with the bike, as far as maintenance goes?

I'm one of those get a new bike every two or three years guy. Some tell me as soon as the warranty runs out, to get rid of it. However, I am not afraid of maintenance issues. I've never had any serious issues with metric bikes. I usually swap out because of boardom.

I must say, I have not gotten board with the XR after two years of ownership. That's pretty good for me.   :001:

Hi,
The bike's had no issues apart from a minor glitch with the gear assist pro, which turned out to be a dodgy clutch switch.
The rear shock needs replacing as it's damping is fading once warm, but that's just usual wear and tear and it's a good excuse to upgrade too.
Plus I had to replace 3 of the coil packs, but this was caused by a mouse eating all the rubber whilst the bike was in the garage so can't really blame the bike!
I've just bought a GS911 diagnostic tool so plan to start doing my own full services from now on.

Good to hear all is well. You might want to find a good exterminator though.   :001:

Yep I’m on there too. Trying to escape the grumpy GS riders who haven’t seen the light yet & swapped to XR’s  :008:

Got it done at Hilltop in 2015, but having seen all the negative stuff about them recently I’m wondering if it’d be worth getting it dyno’d elsewhere to see if it really has been done?
